Priced under $50,000
“We don’t want it to be really expensive. I think it got to start at less than $50,000 – it’s got to be like $49,000 starting price max. Ideally less. It just can’t be unaffordable. It’s got to be something that’s affordable. There will be versions of the truck that will be more expensive, but you’ve got to be able to get a really great truck for $49,000 or less.”
“It’s got to have incredible functionally from a load carrying standpoint, look amazing – but it won’t look like a normal truck. It’s going to look pretty sci-fi. That means that it’s not going to be for everyone- like if somebody just wants to have a truck that looks like trucks have looked like for the last 20 to 40 years, it’s probably isn’t for them.”
Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, has made references in the past to being a “blade runner” truck. What exactly this means still has people guessing. We know from the statements, that he intends it to be roomy.
” Andre the Giant will be able to fit in the driver’s seat.”
6 passenger and 500 mile range
We also know that the truck will be a 6 seater! Woo hoo! Jen, this could be us! The Tesla truck will have a range of 400 to 500 miles, maybe more.
It will have lockers and 240-volt power
While I have no use for the 240, this is probably going to be a huge selling point for people who use their trucks for work.
300,000 lb towing capacity
Okay, maybe this is purely for marketing. The point of it is to show how the electric technology of Tesla has surpassed traditional ICE vehicles. You would never get a Ford doing this. No one, is going to start towing jumbo jets with Tesla, but at least Tesla owners can say their vehicles can.
It will be the best truck ever made
Based on the specs we know about, Tesla will be producing the best truck ever known. It will be more powerful, more roomy, more capable and more environmentally friendly than truck that has been made before. If you can wait to buy your next truck, you should wait for this.
